Android: for people on the go

When I'm moving around quite a lot, it's useful to have an Android device near me so I can do anything from check the temperature to take a quick look at my email. It's incredibly useful, so I've listed some aspects and app types that'll make your life a lot easier if you're rarely in one place for long.

1) Internet.
Being able to surf the web in a more advanced (and less expensive) way to the older WAP system means that you can visit all sorts of websites and get the information you need, or if you're a Partypoker fan, simply read their blog before you head home to play a few games after work. But that's not the only use for a connection...

2) Communication.
Email, Twitter, Facebook, SMS, MMS, IM - there are so many different ways to communicate using an Android phone that it's really difficult to find yourself in a situation where you can't! Whether you want to write a long email or tweet status updates on a hike across the wilderness (just ensure you've got good signal, or they might not hit the web until you get back into range!), you're set!

3) Apps.
Apps are definitely a major selling point of any modern smartphone, and Android has them in spades! There's everything you could hope for, from weather, to email, to social networking, to games, to audio... If you want to do something on a phone, there's a reasonable likelihood there's an app for it, which turns your Android device into a must-have item that you'll come to rely on.

Android's also a lot more diverse, with many different versions and platforms at any one time, and if you're not keen on going down the iPhone route, even better, as Android's approach is a little different, and generally cheaper! Your choice, in the end, but I'm happy with Android, and many others are, too!
